Found at Burara Health Center in the Commune of Busoni, Kirundo Province, Annociatte Uwimana, though her child was ill, her smile could reflect the joy she had as she was waiting for the results from lab test of her child. This is what made her happy: From the Consultation to the lab test, she had paid only 800fr and was waiting for the results so to be given drugs for the same 800fr she had paid. Her child had fever, pain in the throat and belly and couldn't eat. It was not the first time the child had the same issue.
She had been treated in another health center and had the pain soothed but not totally healed and has now come to this other health center she thought to be better. "The tarifs are only 800fr for a child, 700fr for those having chronic diseases and 500fr for adults and all the services are covered no matter how expensive they may be. Even though the total cost of operations may exceed 100.000fr, when one has the health Insurance card, the tarif doesn't change" commented Issa Barutwanayo, the Director of Burara Health Center. Annociatte, one of beneficiaries of health insurance cards distributed by Restoration Burundi is very happy. She has 4 children who fall ill very often but doesn't struggle to get them treated now.
"I have used this health Insurance card more than 6 times within these 6 months. I can't find words to express my thanks. God bless very much those who gave us this card. We pray that God enables them to renew these cards when they expire."
Actually 5000 persons are enjoying the use of Health Insurance cards distributed by Restoration Burundi in partnership with Glo in the province of Cibitoke, Rugombo Commune, and Kirundo province in the communes of Busoni and Bugabira. This was done in collaboration with local authorities and beneficiaries were those aged 60 or more, returnees, pigmies, single mothers and other people with very low income. Most of our Beneficiaries live by working for others to earn 2000f or 3000f a day. They live day by day. Not working for them a single day means struggling to eat that day.
